Types of Transportation
- Standard private or public (ride service)
- Wheelchair van

- Ambulance when needed
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
- When standard transportation doesn’t work due to medical reasons
- Healthcare provider must prescribe and Medi-Cal must approve
- Includes ambulance, wheelchair van, or litter van services
Non-Medical Transportation (NMT)
- Public or private transport methods to covered Medi-Cal services
- Must alert healthcare provider before use
- Can be used by all beneficiaries with full-scope Medi-Cal and pregnant women postpartum
